Is there a Linux native app that has working support for Clap plugins? I'm getting close to starting the No Budget plugins move to clap format. I'll need a host to test the plugins, and it can't be a Windows app because my development system doesn't have WINE installed (and I'm not going to install it there).

Re: Clap support in a Linux App
For me, CLAP support is only available if I install carla-git from the AUR, rather than carla from the official Arch repos. So I assume it is disabled in the released version and Carla needs to be compiled from source to have it enabled.

Re: Clap support in a Linux App
Is clap os-independent? Or do we have windows-clap and linux-clap like vst?

Re: Clap support in a Linux App
Audio plugins are never os-independent.
There is always Win-VST, Mac-VST, Linux-VST , Win-Clap, Mac-Clap, Linux-Clap and Win-LV2, Mac-LV2 and Linux-LV2.
Plugins are compiled programs like everything else, your browser, games etc.

Yeah, but I was thinking, maybe the DAW could be the go-between..
Re: Clap support in a Linux App
Oh hell. I currently use QTractor and MUSE to test my LV2 plugs. I was just finishing up testing the latest batch in QTractor thinking "Now I need to get a clap host to test", and never even noticed the clap entry in Q. Damn that Rui is sneaky. I thought he was doing Pipewire stuff. He has hand in every cookie jar. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the guy who blew up the Nord Stream pipeline (says the innocent american, because we all know Russia did it)

That would be like WINE or actual Emulation, which is faulty or slow or both.

Ildaeil. It's a plugin, but Ardour is a solid host (or your preferred DAW), so load it from Ardour and use all CLAP plugins you want.
From Ildail repository info:
And it can load the following plugin formats:
Code: Select all
Internal (from Carla) LADSPA DSSI LV2 VST2 VST3 CLAP JSFX
