The new (MKII) version of the linuxDSP 10 band graphical EQ is now released, this is a significant upgrade, and so it has been released as a new plugin. It features a much improved graphical display that shows each of the 10 bands individual EQ response in addition to the combined frequency response of the plugin. It also adds a new bandpass filter type, which uses an innovative DSP algorithm to more accurately simulate the response of an analogue EQ (by de-cramping the frequency response at high frequencies without resorting to CPU intensive upsampling). It is available as an LV2 plugin compatible with Ardour 2.8.8 and later, or other host applications that correctly support the LV2 external_UI extension such as Qtractor and is exceptionally good value considering that plugins offering similar functionality on other platforms can be as much as $500 (and sometimes require extra DSP hardware). The plugin comes with a detailed manual and installation instructions, and can be downloaded here:

Re: linuxDSP graphical EQ
This is a very nice piece of software
Audio-restoration is a field where every new effort for new software for Linux is most welcome to me. Do you think about a noise-reduction module by any chance ?
Such a beast has to work offline though(multipass-rendering etc) -- do you think, it could be used in realtime-apps like Ardour too?

Re: linuxDSP graphical EQ
@zettberlin: Noise reduction is certainly something we 'could' do, and it can be done in realtime with VST plugins on other platforms so there is no reason why it couldn't be done in realtime in a similar way as an LV2 or linux VST plugin for ardour or other host applications. However it also requires significant development time and investment, so I think at this stage we need to see how some other projects work out first before committing to it, especially as linux audio is already a very niche market and this particular field probably represents a small niche within that.

Audio restoration is very much a niche market, on all platforms. But it's the kind of niche demanding powerful tools, not flashy GUIs or marketing hype, so I personally think Linux based software could really shine there. Even on Windows, there is a major lack of really good tools, apart from the extremely expensive Cedar systems.linuxdsp wrote:...especially as linux audio is already a very niche market and this particular field probably represents a small niche within that.
