No Budget Basses

Post by j_e_f_f_g »

The bass guitars are here.

1) Download bass_plugins.zip. Also download basses44khz.zip or basses48khz.zip or both.

2) Unzip to a single NoBudgetBasses folder.

3) Open a terminal window, in the NoBudgetBasses folder.

4) Enter the following 2 commands:

Code: Select all

chmod 775 ./install_basses.sh
sudo ./install_basses.sh

Thanks for your immense work! Will be trying out what it can do.

A tiny request:
In your install scripts if you could make "/usr/share/NoBudget" a variable e.g. $INSTALL_DIR
I could easily create a local installation in my account for testing purposes.
(Sure I could hack the scripts myself ... Just in case you feel like ...)

Thanks again for your efforts, Pete

The plugins themselves look for the waves in either /usr/share/NoBudget or a NoBudget directory in your home folder.

So just changing where the waves are installed isn't going to work. But if you choose to install for only the current user, then the waves will end up in your home dir, and plugins in home dir ~/.lv2. (But note that there are still some shared libs that need to be copied to /usr/share).

Side comment:

Great work Jeff! Thanks for your generous efforts, also glad to see you've got better hosting home base on Sourceforge. TBH I don't use a lot of these type of Plugins or do a lot of MIDI work but I think they will find a huge audience here and I know there are countless hours invested in this.

You work the exact opposite from me. No click/reference track. Start with digital audio tracks. Everyone playing live.

I start with manuscript paper, scoring everything before it's played. Then each midi track, overdubbed one track at a time.

For people who work like me, midi is essential. So I really want to see these bundled with, or at least easily added to AV Linux.
