Mud - Rocket cover atempt

Post by Gps »

I have no idea yet if I will fully cover this, for now I am only really interested in the drums and intro.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fefFX0k-fW8

Fun memories from when I was even younger, and I still have 5 or so 45rpm singles of them.

Dynamite, Tiger feet, The Cat crept in, Rocket, LL Lucy.

Is the drummer only using hit hats and a snare ?

There is no bass drum ? Or is he using two different snares ? :?

I am hearing boom clap but cant nail it down in LMMS.

I think I figured out there is a snare combined with a clap.

With a site were you can upload mp3, I found the bpm is about 147, that sounds right, my lmms attempt is almost in sync.
I cant find a midi file nor sheet muisc but might have found a site with the guitar tabs.

This is were I am getting stuck:

Do I need a rock drum pack maybe, I am not sounding like mud at all?

Off topic fun fact the lead singer sometimes get mistaken for Elvis.
Although he does sounds somewhat like Elvis, lonely this Christmas is not form Elvis but from Mud.
Also in the intro of rocket you can hear he does sound like Elvis to some extent.

Proof, and I sarcastically wonder why reactions under this vid are off

I think the kick drum just sounds very "clicky", but I'm pretty sure it is a kick and not a second snare.

Thank you.

I am gonna try it in hydrogen. If that fails too I will look for more drum samples.

Don't think I can use Hydrogen in LMMS, but maybe through Carla.

There must be time period right drums.

From the same time and those drums do sound alike, but nothing like the drums in LMMS.

Slade - Goodbye to Jane

I think I know how to do the hi hats from this Slade - track. Move every second note. (swing) :)

When I mention slade I have to mention this one:

Slade - Cum On Feel The Noize

I also know this cover version:
Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel The Noize

How did I go from liking this, to disco and house too ?

Hydrogen as a plugin would be great. But, if LMMS plays nice with Jack Transport, you could run LMMS as transport master, and Hydrogen as transport slave. Then you can route the audio back into LMMS, if it has such audio capability.
