Looper setup

Post by delete000 »

I am looking to achieve the following multi-channel looping functionality:

0. set a global bpm
1. while playing into an input, hold the last bar played in a buffer *without* playing it
2. upon hitting a controller / footswitch:
. play buffer starting at the first beat of the next bar (quantized)
. arm next audio slot
. start recording new input into the buffer
3. go to step 2

Each audio slot should have its own output (hence multi-channel). Ideally buffer size should be adjustable. A click track (with its own output) would be great.

How can I get this? Is there a way to achieve this in Ardour somehow?

I wasn't able to see how to make Sooperlooper to do all of the steps. Loopy Pro (the iPad app) gets close, but I'd rather avoid iOS.

As far as I can tell, Luppp works more like a standard loop station, where you hit record whenever you want to record your loop. In what I describe above, you never hit record: the last bar you played is automatically held in the buffer by default, and only played when you shift to the next track.

You should be able to set up something in BespokeSynth to do just that.
