I am afraid that you cannot control the mixer with a Linux-only setup, so it's a mere „We had to make it Class Compliant because of our Macs but we don’t give a fuck about Linux.“

System Requirements

Computer:

Any Mac that supports macOS 10.9.x or newer with a 64-bit Intel or Apple Silicon Processor
One of:
USB port
Built-in Gigabit Ethernet Port
Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Thunderbolt Dock with Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
USB3 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Card

OS:

macOS 10.9.x or newer required

Linux – MOTU UltraLite AVB – Qtractor – http://suedwestlicht.saar.de/

Hi, I'm late but:
We have two of these in the Studio. Since its class compliant it's well recognized ootb with jack. However, after one hour of use, or a big hum appears, or a noise, and mic signal itself disappears...
no idea why.
And as say bluebell: no direct control, but I guess you can set everything easy from front panel...

I'm curious if anybody else experienced same issue?

Actually, this happens because I use two interfaces in Jackd:
-a class-compliant USB DAC with 2 outputs
-ULN-8 for inputs

If I use only UNL-8 it works, at least longer, I only tried about two hours.

Maybe something to do with wordclock settings? (DAC has no WC, so no way to sync through hardware). I tried to "cycle" setting, I'll test longer to be sure it works. If not I'll open a new thread.

I think what people are starting to discover is that, even when a product is advertised as "class-compliant", that doesn't mean that it isn't buggy, or implemented poorly, or has some other issue that prevents it from working on Linux.

The bottom line: Even if a product is "class-compliant", assume that it doesn't work with ALSA until/unless someone actually tests the device with Linux. There's just too much that can go wrong.

I worked on the ULN-8 in duplex mode on a Pure Data patch, a bit unstable. On each CPU peak, something crashed and this very loud noise again. I had to "switch master" or restart jackd to get it work again.

So no, doesn't work, at least for me...

Anecdotally, I just got back from a session where I tried to use either of a pair of these with my machine in someone else's studio. They were both picked up by pipewire & pavu but I couldn't get either of them to make a sound. It could have been a configuration issue (he had been using them over RJ45 through their proprietary link whatever thing), but we didn't push it.

thank you for the feedback...
If you have opportunity to try with Jack it would be nice!
