You Shape My Heart (something different and lively)

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, I'd like to present: You Shape My Heart:
The Single version (song only)

OGG version:

You Shape My Heart (Stage version, with introductory scene):
https://youtu.be/TYQ78tHhjRM
This song (with good reason) cites Theme For Cariad
https://youtu.be/niUZMYIfWEI
(3:16 in the single and 5:58 in the stage version). It slowly begins to grow into a connected collection of songs, not only by motivation and lyrical motifs, but also by musical motifs. :)
Instruments used: LinuxSampler with commercial piano and brass, VPO (Virtual Player Orchestra) strings, NBB (No Budget Band) bass, setBfree for the gorgeous organ sound and DrumGizmo with the Aasomonster2 kit for drums (showing off yet another quitedifferent processing / sound shaping).
This song is musical inspired, to be more specific, it is influenced by Tim Minchin's musical version of Matilda. Thus, it is more lively and a little more fun (I think). I also paid more attention to accents and effects. :)
The lyrics are below, and since this song actually tells a story, they might be helpful.
Best wishes and enjoy, Jeanette
*** LYRICS ***
When you first called again,
After the intervening years,
You made me sit up...
I'm all ears.
We weren't the girls we'd been.
You are a goddess to my heart.
I'd pray to you from afar:

Much too far apart.

Now, there was my heart alight,
Singing all my love to you,
But I couldn't tell you straight
That I love you.

[chorus]
I care for you!
(She's into you as she can be.)
You shape my heart.
You said it too.
(And you are hers, we see.)
I just want to sing...
Sing my love to you.

I was consoled with admiring you from afar;
(One eye laughing, one eye crying.)
I'd made peace with the world,
But then the world stood on its head.
You gave me a chance to declare myself.
"I suppose it's obvious," I said
"I am in love with you."

And you said: "I am too."

Our love pours in waterfalls
Down to our hearts 'til they overflow.
Then we will burst in bliss.
And touch and kiss!
Touch and Kiss!

[chorus]
I care for you!
(She's into you as she can be.)
You shape my heart.
You said it too.
(And you are hers, we see.)
I just want to sing...
Sing my love to you.

It seems a film music! very well arranged and produced.
Some samples of some acoustic instruments could be more realistic ..but anyway, the overall result is great! very pleasant to listen.
Good job!

Thanks both of you, again.
@kamiluni : I know that the samples could be better, one is used to a different quality. Working with the software I have at my disposal, I couldn't find anything more up-to-date. I just tried my best to pick the sweetspots. Working with a sample library is like working with an instrument, so I've heard. You have to get to know it and work with it, not against it. :)

Very nice AOR track! The intro reminded me of "Far from over" by Frank Stallone, and then it veered more into Supertramp territory. Really cool!
