Arturia MiniLan 3 Linux support, is it really that bad?

Post by BlueCamoose »

Looking at a budget midi controller that I will use with Ubuntu studio to,
1) program melodic (via the keyboard) and percussive (via the pads) parts into a sequencer
2) Live perform softsynths and hydrogen
3) program knobs and/or sliders to control the volumes of different drums with-in hydrogen or different soft-synth parameters.

I really like the Arturia MiniLab 3 because it has a 5 pin midi out that I will use when not on the laptop. However I have heard that the linux support is lacking for the control center. But I think maybe that control center is just for changing the MIDI configuration? If I have to have something installed on a windows desktop for initial configuration that is not a deal braker to me, as long as that configuration stays with the device from one reboot to the next.

Any personal experience with the MiniLab on Linux that folks can share??

Probably not exactly what you're looking for but recently we've discussed the Arturia Midi driver and the software to configure it was also discussed:

I'll keep a keen eye on this topic because I'd like to know if this sweet little device will work in Linux and or Wine.
