Request Full Bucket to adapt his plugins for Linux

Post by miuzik »

In the independent plugin world, Full Bucket is a prestigious developer (He won the KVR Developer Challege 2021 with WhispAir synth). His plugins are free (not libre/free software) for Microsoft and macOS. He works with free software tools and even he now support CLAP plugin format. All Full Bucket catalogue here.

Although you can load his plugins with yabridge, you add a layer of compatibility in your workflow and sometimes that situation can origin problems with latency, broke with updates, etc.

So, maybe we can ask Full Bucket to develop his plugins for Linux (in a polite way, of course). He is a nice guy, and he has an account in mastodon. With the Linux space he stands to gain a lot: new fans, new users and new donors.

You can find his email in his official webpage. Please take five minutes of day and write him and request to adapt his plugins for Linux. We will be very grateful for his efforts.

are built using the WDL-OL/IPlug and iPlug2 frameworks

it depends on which iPlug version is used, while it's possible to use with Linux, it's very experimental and incomplete

So many synths! Is there particularily some of them you recommend to test?

The framework is iPlug2. So far it does not have Linux support.
Here is the github issue about that https://github.com/iPlug2/iPlug2/issues/105

If you want full bucket plugins for linux this is in the way, nothing the plugin dev can do about it.

Thanks for recommendation. Tested it, and sounds ok, but nothing that would make me 'wow'. Maybe I am spoiled with some many other synths I already have. :-)

Thanks for the head up. It is nice to see that those plugins have been open sourced. Right now the compile time on my poor old machine is already way beyond of i.e Ardour. Let 's see how it goes.

From Björn Arlt (Full Bucket developer), his plugins can't building for Linux, the reason: iPlug. iPlug hasn't full support for Linux, but Björn will help us when iPlug has support for Linux. So, we only have to wait.
