You choose to isolate yourselves in these FOSS-rules-the-world enclaves and attitudes. Go out in the real world, and prove you are better than the competition. It's way more fun being a player, than a fan!

You made my day.

Can you all make your own thread to argue in? Some of us are interested in Clap and this discussion has nothing to do with it.

It also isn't 'Oprah' And it's OK if the neighbors hear it...
'Arguing' leads to understanding when you listen. Tramp is a multi-lingual genious living across the globe from me.
I plink and pluk what he codes, and if there are diverse opinions, it shouldn't be a surprise or a secret.

Tramp made an excellent point: "this forum would be pointless without open source software."

The sad fact is that for many musicians using win/mac systems with music-industry-standard and world-class products,
this forum is unknown, as are the local talents and their excellent products. CLAP being cross-platform and open-source
offers a rare common ground, that can be beneficial to all who participate.
Cheers

Four CLAP synth demos at the link, periodic mild crackling noise is the demo marker:

I'll just mention these again - its not normally my intention to spam the forum but I feel they kind of got lost earlier in the off-topic debate. So, now available in VST2, VST3, CLAP and JACK format. Recently updated to V3.12 I humbly present for you delight and entertainment....

They aren't open source, and that won't be compatible with all philosophical points of view, but they are what they are, the product of over 30 years professional audio industry experience in both digital and analogue domains, and they're specifically designed for Linux. They have some nice features such as decramped filters and smoothed and interpolated controls to ensure freedom from 'zipper noise' when adjusting parameters. Both features which are surprisingly missing from some other plug-ins. More at:

Personally I'm both a musician and a developer, a Linux enthusiast (I made these for Linux mainly because I wanted them :) but I hope others enjoy them too) and an occasional contributor to open source projects.

These are really high quality plugins. I use them all the time.
In time, when Ardour/Mixbus start supporting the #CLAP architecture, I will enjoy these even more. In addition to all that #AVLinux MXE delivers.

Good day to you all.

Okay, then let me have one to @glowrak guy: you seems interested in open source and proprietary software, so here you could see guitarix in action as part of a proprietary software bundle.

Those in the peanut gallery, atop the gray panel, you'll see that Guitarix has a vst version, and has been chosen as the amp in that session. When you use wine to install Music Lab's RealGuitar, the installer asks if you want to install Guitarix, which it does without issues. When you launch RealGuitar, and choose an amp, Guitarix is ready to be chosen. Music Labs RealGuitar is a high-end software, with several other versions for Strat, Les Paul etc and is working well in windows-Reaper running in wine staging 7.15 (wineasio as driver) in AVlinux EFL (Enlightnment desktop) The RealGuitar download is 1.3 gig, but there are tons of capabilities to choose from. Even a nice panel of controls for guitar player noises. The demo runs for 14 days, with plenty to explore.

I follow a few windoze guitar sites, and never saw a mention of the Guitarix in this setting, so I'd recommend some serious self-promotion
is in order. The price is reasonable, and in brief testing/exploring of the acoustic, I think it will prove very useful here, so Santa has been notified.

Keeping on-topic, Is a CLAP Guitarix planned? I've read it's easier to support than it says on the box.

Great that important progress is being made. U-he mentioned that CLAP will make it much easier to add midi-out
in future releases. An arpeggiator with midi out in Yoshimi or other linux synths would be fantastic
Cheers
