Actually is a repo that you enable/install on a Debian installation. See: https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/doc4/en/ ... nvironment
Oh I miss this, great!
Maybe some of them can be used with any debian based system, like librazik-banquesdeson-all? (soundfonts)
Did you update your repo installation in the sources?
Not sure to understand what you mean. When I use repo, I let them do their updates, even if that change something in their source list.
Not here? Need to rid of old repos and reinstall new ones? It's a strange way to do.

Probably yes since a soundfont will just extract to /usr/share/sounds/{sf2,sf3} dir. However I never used the LibraZik repo on an Ubuntu installation, so always be careful on what you are doing.

There were some changes in the repo itself, that's why you still see gcc5 stuff and such.
Short story: do a new repo installation procedure.
Long story: you are free to do your own research and see what's changed. ;)

Largos wrote: Fri Oct 07, 2022 4:09 pm I wouldn't install kxstudio repo with ubuntu studio because the kxstudio uses it's own version numbering system which can in some cases overwrite newer software.
I worked around that in Debian by pinning the KX repos to low priority. This should work for any Debian based distro:

Code: Select all

# Never prefer packages from KX repo
Package: *
Pin: release v=18.04
Pin-Priority: 1

# Never prefer packages from KX repo
Package: *
Pin: release v=20.04
Pin-Priority: 1
This would be more complicated if you have other sources with the same release version. The "origin" could be specified instead for each individual section of the KX repo eg.:

Code: Select all

Package: *
Pin: release o=LP-PPA-kxstudio-debian-apps
Pin-Priority: 1

Package: *
Pin: release o=LP-PPA-kxstudio-debian-plugins
Pin-Priority: 1

Package: *
Pin: release o=LP-PPA-kxstudio-debian-libs
Pin-Priority: 1

FYI: I just built a new machine, installed Debian stable (although with a kernel from backports), and the kx.studio repositories are just doing fine. No issues at all.

Why it's "discouraged"?
The KXStudio repository is discouraged to be used onto Ubuntu Studio in particular, to avoid duplicated audio settings, that are tailored for distro specific use cases. Talking about Studio-Controls vs Cadence. There is no known issue with using KXStudio with any other deb based distributions.

I used a tool called cubic to make my own KXStudio distro (for personal use -- nothing I'd maintain).

In essence, I started with Ubuntu, gave it the KDE desktop instead of gnome, added the kxstudio repos, tweaked a couple of other things to my liking ... and generated an install iso.

The next time I try this, I will probably use Mint and Cinnamon because I have had it with Snaps. Cinnamon is also a very nice desktop.

So my next one ... I'll use cubic and start with a Mint/Cinnamon distro, with the kde repos added and installed.
