Ends of the earth
https://youtu.be/Q9ErBjaMTZM
It balanced between gentle electro and acoustic downtempo with some world influence. The lyrics are at the bottom of this post. A friend of mine called it: a sound design piece. I call it a lovesong.
Instruments: Csound for the handpan, the wobbly pad, one of the percussion instruments and many small effects and rhythmic elements. LinuxSampler for piano, the djembe and tabla and firing off a few of the Csound samples. More analogue and digital hardware for pads and basses and one choir layer with Yoshimi.
Nothing new in the production, but hopefully a trick or two learnt and applied, trying to improve the sense of depth and depth layering.
Enjoy and here are the lyrics:
Sprite on the ice
In a mist laden dream.
Like rain from the skies,
You touch
And are gone with the stream.
Now, here...
I feel you close
Soft like a tear,
Sharp as a rose.
-
You're so near but far away,
Out of reach, across the seas.
Seeking you I sail astray,
I'll strive for you without cease.
Frozen and seared
By the rays of your moon.
My heart burns to dust
If I can't find you soon.
Here, now...
I make a vow.
I'll cross the earth,
Volcanoes and all... To you.
-
You're so near but far away,
Out of reach, across the seas.
Seeking you I sail astray,
I'll strive for you without cease.

That intro is awesome! As is the "ethnic" harmonics. I like the feel and structure of this a lot. Some psychedelica vibes too. Makes me think of Nick Nicely.
What about some more reverb and delay/echo on the voice? It is very "close" which is nice, though. As is the harmony. You are continually improving your singing!
MusE DAW running on Debian 11 Testing/XFCE4.

Very much enjoyed this, there are some surprising changes but everything fits very well.

Re: Ends of the earth
Very late to the party (I hadn't checked out the forum much recently) but I really like this, very atmospheric especially in the multiple vocal lines!
