Looking for lost soundfont :(

Post by folderol »

I'm trying to recover an old project, and it uses a specific soundfont P51f.sf2 (not PC51f.sf2). I've somehow lost the copy of this I once had and can't seem to find it online.
Any help most gratefully received.

Hi,

I checked my backups but don't have that one.. :(

I'm sure you looked here: http://www.synthfont.com/links_to_soundfonts.html

Is it an individual Soundfont or part of a large collection? There is reference to it here but the related links are dead:

Is it a General MIDI soundfont? If so, upload the MIDI track that uses that soundfont, and I'll make you a collection of the sounds you need. (They'll sound better than that old sf2, and will be sfz format).

Can you make me an SFZ of Golda Meir reading the King James Version of the Bible..? :P

Thank you all for your replies and search efforts.
I've actually made a lot of progress this afternoon :)
I managed to dig out an old mp3 of the recorded track, so using that for comparison, I looked for alternative sources. I tried the PC51f (which I do have) and that gave sort-of similar results, but not really what I wanted, although arguably better quality recordings.

Next I investigated emulating the sounds in Yoshimi. The good news is that I could get much closer. I shall carry on tweaking the sounds, and may end up with a quite improved result, and of course it can be to full 24bit 48k quality.

Lucky for you the developer of Yoshimi isn't as negligent in backing up his files.
