Just getting caught up on this subforum, and I notice that no one has commented on this track yet. I think it is a solid piece of work. I love the electronic sounds over the steady dance beat. Sounds like an early 80's techno track. Did you actually record this on magnetic tape? What was your workflow? Hardware or software synths? How did you mix and master?

I agree with @milo, this recording deserves attention! Very good old school sounds!

That was just completely badass! Loved it. It would be nice to know what equipment you used.

So glad to hear you guys appreciate it :)

This was a project of live recording from mixer to tape in a single take - as I had an old Sony stereo from the 90s with a crappy tape head, the end result had a considerable loss of frequency span. Liked it nevertheless.

My setup is a series of workarounds, as I suppose it is the case with all linux live setups  Hydrogen was used as a drum machine in this track, controlled live via midi controller, output via main interface to mixer. Bristol synths were used for the poly lines (prophet5 and dx, also midi-controller controlled) which were fed into an analog mixer (MixWizard 14:4:2+) via 2 different soundcards (nowadays I use a more powerful Scarlett 8i6, so this workaround is obsolete). As for mono, bass and acid synths analog gear was used and the lines were punched into their internal sequencers and controlled live, synced with midi clock output from Ardour. Also, effects come from hardware rack and pedals.

If for some reason someone wants to know more, feel free to ask me ;)

That's quite a setup! Any duct tape or chewing gum to hold everything together? :)
