iZotope Product Portal installation fails

Post by Mr. Lumbergh »

Apologies if this has been discussed before; my search turned up some discussion about getting the USB dongle to work in 'Nix, but I didn't see anything about the issue I'm running into.
When attempting to install iZotope Product Portal using wine, I get an error pop-up "Fatal Error in Installer" with the following:

Code: Select all

called Tcl_Close on channel with refCount > 0
Has anyone else seen this and is there a solution?

Any help is appreciated.

System is Debian Stable with Wine Staging 5.4 running on a Ryzen 7 box with Radeon RX580 graphics and a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 interface.
I'm going to need you to go ahead, and come in on Sunday, too.

I don't want to be a naysayer, but I had a similar experience and I couldn't figure out a solution. It was a shame, as the plugin worked fine (enough) under WINE, but I couldn't get it authorized. I reached out to both iZotope and the vendor I'd bought it from; no luck, so I got a refund.

Just forget it, iZotope stuff doesn't work in Linux at all. Once you make it seemingly work, you'll end up with inoperable plugin UIs and tremendous CPU load.

Damn, that's bad news, but thanks for the feedback. I was able to either get these either on a steep discount or free with the purchase of something else so not too much lost. I'll dig around on that particular error as I have time and let you know if anything changes.
