Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Well, I found a solution were both (ardour5 and Carla) seems to be happy, but, I'm not. As it didn't allow the little light animation. (Point is that Carla didn't play nicely with control output ports). However, as I know that now, I may found a other solution. Even if I didn't be a fan of atom ports ( you know, fork and so on is a pity from a developer pov, it's a bit like splitting atoms to gain some energy) it seems to be the only solution left. (Dind't that sound familiar to you when you watch the NEWS in TV, the only solution, bla, bla bla ).
On the road again.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
I'm able to make it work in carla and ardour including the little light simulation. Works now in both with external midi gear for me.
It's pushed to latest git,
Let me know please if you still have a issue with it.

Had lots of fun. Works for me in Qtractor and Carla.
Thinking of creating XPolyMonk with lots of Xmonk- and midifilter-instances in Carla

Nice, I'm glad to hear that.bluebell wrote:Had lots of fun. Works for me in Qtractor and Carla.
Funny that you mention it, as I'm currently working on a poly version. Locally here I've a 6 voices version running (takes 8% DSP), this one smashes my brain deep in trance when I play to long with it.bluebell wrote:Thinking of creating XPolyMonk with lots of Xmonk- and midifilter-instances in Carla
Currently drawback is that it only work with midi in, not with the UI controls.

And here it is, a polyphonic version (with 6 voices) of the Xmonk:

Very good, it works.
When you play X(Poly)monk in higher octaves it is suddenly very loud, overpriced. The modulation wheel then has no influence.

Yes, the same is true for the monophonic version.khz wrote:When you play X(Poly)monk in higher octaves it is suddenly very loud, overpriced. The modulation wheel then has no influence.
I'll see what I could do to smooth it.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Works
In Xomk you can play the instrument with the mouse in the GUI, with XPolyMonk this is not possible.
Would a freely adjustable envelope still be possible (or useful)?
What parameters does the formant/vocal synthesizer have? Is it possible to add some more controls to the GUI to be able to intervene in the synthesis form?

Great! I think it's more than a toy. It can add some special feelings in "serious" productions, too.tramp wrote:And here it is, a polyphonic version (with 6 voices) of the Xmonk:

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
The instruments are very loud.
Xmonk maximum to 0.30 Gain,
XPolymonk maximum to 0.07 Gain
before clipping. Can you turn the volume down, more digital headroom?

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Okay, I've reduced the overall gain for the poly version. Also I've re-add the vowel parameter to be adjustable in the UI. For the note parameter, I believe it dosen't makes sense, as this is only really usable in the monophonic version.khz wrote:The instruments are very loud.

Re: [LAA] Xmonk.lv2 a little sound generator
Much better musically usable.
In general I think it makes sense to set "Gain 1.0" so that a digital clipping doesn't occur in the first place. Digital headroom.
