Interesting stuff!
I did not realize you could use VCV Rack as 'guitar effect'

Re: 804AM - A fragment
It can be used in a variety of ways, including standalone as an effects processor for audio input. I've experimented a little with that aspect before now, but recently I've become more interested in its "live" possibilities. I've hauled out my Strat and a Behringer FCB 1010 to put together a performance patch, I'll post a few more things here as I get more ideas flowing.tavasti wrote:I did not realize you could use VCV Rack as 'guitar effect'

Re: 804AM - A fragment
Thanks, G ! I've got a couple other replies mentioning that it sounds like a sitar in places. Must be my deep Carnatic soul emerging from its pasty Pennsylvanish Deutsch enclosure ...GMaq wrote:That is super cool! Wow! Very sitar like things going on there.
I'm having a lot of fun with Rack and the guitar. I think I'm heading into some new territory, I'll post more stuff as the journey continues.
Best always,

Re: 804AM - A fragment
I found it's OK, albeit firmly entrenched in the exploration dept. Could be perhaps an intro for a 70s psych band. It's subjective, although I'm not that much fond of the high-pitched oscillator glissando as, though harmonically related their link to the guitar is nevertheless thin. All in all there's of course a sense of freshness, of openness that irradiates from such a short excerpt. Waiting for the psych bass and drums to join in ....
Cheers.

Downright cinematic.
Dragging my feet on exploring VCV because it looks way too complicated for me, but this clip might inspire me to dig in.

rather on the experimental side to my tastes, but interesting nevertheless.

Great experimental stuff. Reminds me a bit of Brian Eno's "Equatorial Stars".

Yeh, it's definitely "in the wild". I'm learning as I go.jonetsu wrote:I found it's OK, albeit firmly entrenched in the exploration dept... I'm not that much fond of the high-pitched oscillator glissando as, though harmonically related their link to the guitar is nevertheless thin.
I've made a couple of versions with bass & percussion, not very happy with the sounds yet. I'm particular about a certain bass drum sound I want, haven't found it yet.All in all there's of course a sense of freshness, of openness that irradiates from such a short excerpt. Thanks very much for listening and for your comments.

I hope it does !ufug wrote:Dragging my feet on exploring VCV because it looks way too complicated for me, but this clip might inspire me to dig in.
This patch is a pretty simple example. Four modules - two resonators, a delay, and a chorus - perform the signal processing, all the other modules are routing or mixing components. You can get a lot of out of Rack with only a few modules. It's good to work with a few anyway, you'll learn more about each one.
Thanks for your message and your ears.

Thanks for checking it out, Will. It is definitely an experiment, and it's an on-going one here at Studio D these days. Hopefully something more coherent will emerge soon.folderol wrote:rather on the experimental side to my tastes, but interesting nevertheless.

Re: 804AM - A fragment
Thank you, I'm very glad you enjoyed it. Btw, the original recording is about ten minutes long, it has some other nice points in it but on the whole it just rambles too much. I'll try to pull something together with more discernible form, meanwhile the experiments will continue.bluebell wrote:Great experimental stuff. Reminds me a bit of Brian Eno's "Equatorial Stars".

Thank you, psy, and I apologize for the late response. Life's been keeping me busy here. But I'm always ready for a mid-day siesta.psyocean wrote:Pleasant lullaby turned out! Lets do a midday siesta Nice work!
