Re: Time signature in LMMS
It will change the time signature
https://lmms.io/documentation/Tool_Bar# ... e_Controls
When you turn on the metronom you should hear the difference.

I don't know for version 1.0.0, maybe this helps? Why are you still using 1.0.0??LinMusGuy wrote:Where is the metronome in LMMS 1.0.0 ?

Re: Time signature in LMMS
Thank you, I found the metronome for the Piano-Roll. But I still don't hear what's the difference between setting for instance 4/4 and 3/4 in LMMS.lilith wrote:I don't know for version 1.0.0, maybe this helps? Why are you still using 1.0.0??LinMusGuy wrote:Where is the metronome in LMMS 1.0.0 ?

I am still using 1.0.0 because in the later version I tested the VST-host Vestige was missing.

Re: Time signature in LMMS
Of course there is no audible difference. I thought that maybe the first beat of the metronome has a different tone, like
click tok tok tok click tok tok tok for a 4/4 bar instead of
click tok tok click tok tok for a 3/4 bar
Or what do you mean the audible effect?

Re: Time signature in LMMS
Hmm.. or is the time signature just changing your grid? Maybe someone familiar with LMMS can help?LinMusGuy wrote:I tried a series of identical kicks or claps in the beat+bassline editor and then I changed the time signature, but I did not hear any difference...

Re: Time signature in LMMS
Actually I don't know whether there has to be an audible difference....
But if not, then I don't understand how a series of identical kicks or claps can even have a time signature.

Re: Time signature in LMMS
You'll notice it with a more complex beat. Make a standard 4/4 rock beat, for instance, and then change the time signature to 3/4, and then 5/4. You'll hear the difference. It's been a while since I did this, and I can't double check this at the moment, but IIRC it should cut off the 4th beat when you change to 3/4, and there should be a silent beat when you change to 5/4.
EDIT: You have to program the drum beat in the beat/bassline editor to notice the change. If you program it in the main timeline window then it should sound the same no matter what you do to the time signature.

You are right, in the beat/bassline editor the time signature does make a difference. But it is not yet clear to me what exactly is happening.milo wrote:EDIT: You have to program the drum beat in the beat/bassline editor to notice the change. Re: Time signature in LMMS
You have 16/16 12/16 and 20/16 which is a 4/4, 3/4 and 5/4 beat, divided in 1/16 notes. After playing the pattern the beat is repeated, right? The one comes on every fourth beat.

Re: Time signature in LMMS
Yes, that's correct. Each vertical column represents a 1/16th note.
I'm not really sure what's going on in your 3/4 time example posted above. Why do the 1/16th notes in the hihat_opened01.ogg track not line up with the others? That doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it's a bug? (Or is it a feature?)
I usually don't change the time signature in the middle of working on a composition, so I haven't seen these issuesbefore.
