Roland r 26 detected, but not working
Hi, I am new to linux and trying it it can do what I need with it.
So far it has been good except one thing, this audio input.
I have used Roland R 26 for voice recording or any audio input needed on Mac without any issue.
Now switching to Linux Mint, it is detected as input and output source, but doesn't actually work at all.
with voice recording even any application would not start recording.
I would appreciate any help from experienced members.
Thanks

Use Jack to connect it?
And does it work as an usb-stick? I have an older dig. recorder which doesn't and can only be read with software which came with it. Win only offcourse.
A memory card in it? Perhaps with card reader?

Yes, it is connected via usb and need a driver for Mac.
It can work as a voice recorder and also as an audio interface (input and output).

That's not what i mean.ruachk wrote:Yes, it is connected via usb and need a driver for Mac.
My dig. recorder can be plugged in via usb and is recognized but still doesn't work as an usb-memorystick. It's not plug and play usb flash.
It needs drivers, not available for linux.
Yours needs drivers too you said, so it could be the same as with my dig. recorder. The situation sounds the same to me.
Re: Roland r 26 detected, but not working
Just a quick tip with Linux. Plug & Play compatible audio devices usually have better luck working on Linux as they don't require drivers (Things that don't require drivers on Mac will probably work on Linux). For things that need drivers, sometimes they exist on Linux and may even built into the kernel, but you'll want to do some research first. And on that note, there is a site which lists audio devices that're known to work on Linux, I just can't remember what it's called Does anyone know the site?

Flash is always recognized and needs no drivers. I guess it's memory is not a flash like memory.Death wrote:Plug & Play compatible audio devices usually have better luck working on Linux as they don't require drivers (Things that don't require drivers on Mac will probably work on Linux).
As far as i can find in the specs it has a Memory Card: SD Card (SDHC format compatible). According to the manual the SD Card should be recorgized.
The manual says it won't start if there is no SD Card in it or is wrong in it. Is one in it?
And you must be shure the menu is not visible. Then it won't be recognized either.
Disconnect usb. Turn off the menu. Connect usb again.
If that is not the problem then the unavailable drivers are.
Currently Roland does not make drivers for Linux
https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index ... pic=3854.0There are no "official" Linux drivers and I doubt any ever will arrive from Roland.
Alsa project isn't active with the r 26 either as far as i can see.
Re: Roland r 26 detected, but not working
Thanks for your replies.
the device is set o.k with a sd card.
It seems there is no driver available for this one.
Probably, back to Mac is a way to do it at the moment.

Re: Roland r 26 detected, but not working
There are a patch to make it work. See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206055 for details.
Re: Roland r 26 detected, but not working
Thanks for the information about the patch.
I don't actually have any idea what to do with it though.
I read it through, but it seems quite complicated.
Anybody can help me to understand it?
Thanks.
