totally experimental

Post by OccinticLady »

Hi all,
I have contemplated over this, and - with some fear and humility - present a new piece.
It is a deviation from the style I was busy with. his does not mean that I stopped with Ambient.
The next piece is called Sol One, and is a more...symphonic thing.
I have applied Airwindow's Wider, but...I think I use it wrong. Hence (yet again) a call for feedback to help be grow.
Happy feasts...

Very enjoyable, good sounds, good changes/arranging, subtle dissonance gets resolved,
very calming effect, will listen again later...busy day. Merry Christmas, and happy-healthy 2022!

I liked it, both the first part and the second (with the piano). Maybe the 2nd part should have been even slower to work even better with the first. The repeating strings in the first part are hypnotic in a good way!

Thanks, the piano was (the photo that came with it had to stress this) to "show" the alone-ness (nog lonelyness) of our world. I note that I should tune the speeds, thanks for the valuable tip :)

Hi @OccinticLady, you're making music so fast I can't keep up :-)

Since you're asking for feedback, here is my 100% uncensored feedback:

1) I didn't notice any problems with the stereo width. I've recently started experimenting with stereo/panning myself and I find the impact of these settings on the music so subtle that I think I can spend my time more wisely on trying to get my compositions right. So maybe I'm not the right person to comment on stereo/panning :-)

2) It seems to me that the piano was played without using the sustain pedal? I think many samplers don't support this (yet). If you're also playing this live (at least you did some other songs, which is impressive), then you may also need some extra hardware.

Anyway, this is the only feedback I can give with my own incomplete knowledge.

And oh yeah, before I forget: "practice makes mastery" as they say. With your weekly releases, I'm sure you're on the right track :-)

Hi Pieter,
Thanks for the feedback, I need every bit of it :)
The synth I use does not have a sustain pedal. Something new I leaned this time. Maybe that is something to look out for.
I used the "Moonlight Piano" of Zynaddsubfx for that and indeed, played it live in...

Very nice piece! I found some relax in it :D
