VideoClip & Covers, My First Post

Post by vud1 »

Hi there, this is my first post in this forum.

Since the covid pandemic started I have been recording at home. Step by step i had been making more complex projects.. and my skills (I think) are improving.

I usually record songs and make a video clip to make it more attractive. I use Ubuntu as OS, ardour as Daw, kdenlive as video editor, and a little sense of humor as a spice. My audio plugins are calf, LSP, eq10 and avl-drum for drumers.

At this time I did a version of the classic Feeling Good. I don't speak English ... and my English is not very good ... so ... the video would probably be very ridiculous for native English speakers, hahaha. I made all the jobs.. since the Midi tracks for the drums, to the instruments voices... all except some video records for obvius reasons..

I expect that guitars and other instruments sound good enought for you.

Best regards :)

I'm no expert on youtube music videos, and sadly not familiar with the many standards
that people might cover, but i think you did a great job on both counts. The video clips
flow nicely, and seem accurate in the mood of the song. The chosen effects,
sparse use of color, and facial appearances all work to enhance the dark mood.
Lot's of well spent man-hours, I suspect! And your sense of humour does shine through.
Cheers

Hey hey, what a silky voice! Especially when you sing softly, it's awesome! Very nice playing! Good guitar sound, playing and mixing.
The drum playing/programming sounded quite lively too. Perhaps a little repetitive over time, but the rhythm is well made. Thanks for sharing!
Best wishes, Jeanette

Wow, the video is awesome! I wouldn't even know where to start if I wanted to do the same, a ton of really cool effects: it does look professional stuff to me!
Good guitar work too!

Thanks four your answer!!!

Yes, I am not drummer.. so I made the drum tracks drawing block with the mouse. It is true that in previous videos my drums sounds very... "artificial".

At this time I used avl drum plugins for ardour and I spend some time change the midi notes velocity to sound more... "human". But, it is true than I used Midi Blocks that I cut and paste, so its probably that the drums sounds a litlle repetitive. I will try to made more variations and moficiations in the next videos in order to sound in non-repetitive way. Thanks for your opinion!!

And you did that very well! It's a good rhythm. Maybe next time try to program some breaks or make a longer pattern. You showed a very good feel for your drums.

Nicely done. Lots of effects.
I'm somewhat in the blur where the musci and the visuals meet, there is a lot of disarray. But then, I may not understand the mesage. So, never mind that input of mine
Your vids are way more complex than mine. I have some ground to cover still.
All in all a great and enjoyable experience, thanks :)

Do you post anywhere else? These days I'm pretty hostile to youtube.
