Dreams of Seagulls - Call Me

Post by oscillator »

It has been a while, I am on sick leave since a couple of months, and I've seen that there are a lot of new songs posted, so I will have a great time l catching up. Linux music is strong and that makes me happy.,

This weekend Kajsa and me made 3 new tracks, and we hope you enjoy them...

Wow, the vocals are sounding really strong on this one. The synth with the heavy portamento effect going on is also a nice touch; as always, great work with Surge.

And it certainly has been a while, great to hear you're back!

Welcome back! And you return with a nice surprise in store. Honestly, when I heard the first few chords, I thought that I would not like the song itself. But the melody convinced me otherwise. There is such a nice tension between the vocals and the chord. Also I like a bit of theremin-like sound and playing.
Best wishes, Jeanette

Hej!
Nicely done! Vocals that convey more than words...they convey feeling too...
And artwork, therefore :)

Thanks a lot @jeanette_c! Yes, the electronics and Kajsas great vocals contrast in a rewarding way, I think. She did a great job!

It is unfortunately not a real theremin, just a Surge patch, the portamento adds the organics. Still, it is too a useful contrast!

Thank you for listening and commenting!

Thank you very much Melissa (@OccinticLady, we are both into space music! :D I was very much inspired by an old Vangelis song, "So long ago so clear" with Jon Anderson from Yes, maybe not in sound but in format! :)

Ah, when Jon AND Vangelis teamed up and indeed made great sounds...

Quite lovely! Nicely reminiscent of the early '80s, too.

Slightly off-topic, but your location got my attention. Are you familiar with Patrick G, who records and performs as eleKtroFish?
I'm slow, but I get there eventually.

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting! Yeah, the early 80s is not very well spoken of, but a lot of great stuff was made around that time.

No, unfortunately not, who is he/the project?

It was a formative time for me, so its connotations are mostly good here :)

He's an electronic dance music producer from Gothenburg, though he's closer to electro than EDM. He's on Bandcamp, which is probably the fastest and easiest way to check out his work. We really only cross paths in Lepzig, at Wave Gotik Treffen, but he's a really sweet guy and I know he's enthusiastic about collaborating with other artists.
I'm slow, but I get there eventually.

In 'Call Me' I found the theramin-like sound too loud over the singing, otherwise very good.
'Blue' - simply beautiful.
Enjoyed 'Crimson Moon' too.

Thanks a lot @folderol! You could be right about that sound. I should really get a pair of monitors, for mixing I just play the song through the speakers in my living room. I find sinuswave-like sounds very hard to mix properly.
