The Story of the Tribes

Post by folderol »

At last this is complete and released on Bandcamp here:

https://willgodfrey.bandcamp.com/album/ ... the-tribes

For those buying the album there is a bonus track. It's not part of the story, but fits with it.

Play or buy, I hope you enjoy it either way. The 'info' button gives you the part of the story that each track relates to.

Nice! I think "Curators of the Stones" was my favorite. These compositions definitely tell a story.

Interesting. That was the one I had most difficulty with - must have transferred a bit more angst :lol:

Always like your stuff. Just the other day I listened to one of your older tracks, "Hours and Hours".

I also think I know what inspired you (directly or not). In Italy we celebrate patron Saints with street markets. Sometimes there are Native Americans who sell CDs, T-shirts, war bonnets and candles. Well, they sometimes play this kind of electronic music with pan flutes, Andean melodies and some pads, an overall "modern Celtic" sound (I dislike the term New Age). Well, maybe it is not your inspiration, but thank you for the spiritual voyage back to my childhood :D

@folderol

beautiful atmospheres!

I really needed some "magic" and "relaxing" to listen.

Are there samples or is all synthesized?

in mix, nobody can hear your screen

Thanks again folks
@basslint
Ive always like music with a strong ethnic content - from African choirs and Gregorian chants to Celtic folk.

@LAM With the exception of the guitar (played) at the start of The Gathering Storm, it's all synthesised in Yoshimi - even the explosion in Curators of the Stones :)

Fascinating music, as if written by the kind wizard Gandalf from Middle-earth ... While listening, I was healed of a gloomy mood... Bravo, Maestro!

Nice work, and a unique usage of the info menu in bandcamp.

I make music as Tenaba! Bandcamp

@Tenaba I though this was a good way of introducing the story in a way that was synchronised with the with the music.

Hi Will!

I think I had heard an earlier incarnation of this collection on your website a few years back (?). This is a wonderful feast for the ears, beautifully luminous tranquil soundscapes and a masterful demonstration of Yoshimi's capabilities.

Hi Glen,
I did post earlier versions of the first three parts in 2016, but they are considerably developed since then - especially the title track. It's nice you remembered though :)

For anyone interested in such things the starting points for each of these is:
search - 2008
story text - 2009-2010
long years - 2013
taming - 2015
gathering - 2018
curators - 2021
home - 2014

I've probably said this before, but after all these years I'm still discovering new things about Yoshimi, and with the excellent work two of the other devs have done, it's a moving target :lol:
