Down the house
Hey hey,
Down the house is a funny little track: House and synthewave met down the club one night and decided to have a baby:
https://youtu.be/Ghhmx03Z-BY
The synths in this are exclusively hardware, though the production involved a lot of plugins and routiing audio in the DAW. After the intro it's got some uncompromising swing and groove.
Enjoy and best wishes, Jeanette

Very very cool! Your choice of sounds is impressive

Re: Down the house
First I read "Down the blouse"
I like it and the mix again is very good! But I don´t here much synthwave here. It reminds me more on 80s synth pop acts.
While looking at the frequency spectrum there´s a pretty deep hole at ~150 Hz. Is this on purpose to get rid of the muddiness?

Re: Down the house
Partially on purpose, though the extent of the hole is a mixing failure, perhaps overcompensating for bad monitoring equipment or listening environment.
thanks for the feedback and the attention to detail and effort. I am flattered. And "down the blouse" would have been a nice title as well. Perhaps one day...

Re: Down the house
Curious. Some interesting material in there, but too disjointed for my taste.

Re: Down the house
Thanks all. It is interesting to me to read your feedback. It shows how different one's own perception can be to other people's and what "surprises" a composition may have up its sleeve. I just had the idea of the drop and the distinct feeling that it needed to be preceded by a harmless intro.
As much as I was striving for an early 90s house sound, apparently I came up with something rather 80s and not nearly as uncompromising as I had intended.
Again, thanks for the honest and enlightening feedback!

Hi jeanette_c!
I'm too hopelessly genre-ignorant when it comes to electronic music to comment with much other than your strong compositional sense comes through loud and clear with whatever music you post here! You have an impressive range of styles that you are very competent in!

Re: Down the house
I liked the bouncy rhythm. Makes me want to move. I'm also not an expert, but this sounds like late-80's or early-90's to me. I can imagine it at my junior high school dance circa 1990.

Re: Down the house
I wonder what that party was like. I only know parties of that year from mainstream American films (or even movies?).

Re: Down the house
It was really boring compared to the movies.jeanette_c wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:52 pmI wonder what that party was like. I only know parties of that year from mainstream American films (or even movies?).
