New song and video "Being"
Here's a new song written by my wife. I'm not sure what genre to categorize it as. The recording was done with Ardour and the strings were played in Linux Sampler with the Sonatina Symphony Orchestra samples.

Great message and nice song!
The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. [Acts 4:32]

Re: New song and video "Being"
It's a beautiful song. The guitars are nicely played and mixed. I love the strings in this arrangement. Though the pizzicato could possibly do with a little more EQ. I'd also have loved to hear more of the vocals, they are rather tentatively mixed.
The rhythm change in the chorus was a nice surprise, I enjoyed the increased energy.

Wow Craig!
Very nice recording and arranging job and great writing! You and your wife are both quite telegenic (...videogenic...?), what a great project, is making music and videos with a spouse a good marital test? They used to say if you could hang wallpaper together that was a good sign, I would imagine producing music and videos together would be a much more challenging task...lol Thanks for sharing!

Cool song! The song gave me a 70s vibe that IMO seemed to call for a mellotron, more than strings, but Sonatina did its job nicely as well here.

Re: New song and video "Being"
I would suggest changing the instrumentation more throughout the piece. The guitar + strings is a really nice sound, but you could add some dynamic emphasis and interest by bringing things in and out of the song. For example, a guitar-only intro could set you up for a nice punch when you bring the strings in for the prechorus, and dropping out the guitar and drums at some point could give you a nice fist pump when they come back in. Just a thought.

Isn't there the "rehersal room" subforum, which exists to discuss works in progress? It doesn't have its own upload function AFAIK.

Nor am I. It only has 8 topics. It was probably someone's great idea that was not ever fully utilized and is now suffering bit rot.
@CraigPid, I think this subforum is a good place to post half-baked or fully-baked ideas. We get the whole spectrum here, and some posts explicitly ask for feedback on what the original poster deems unready for prime time. Other posts get that sort of feedback unsolicited.

Hear hear! That would be a much better place for me to post cringeworthy vocal tracks!
