Love struck (symphonic electro ...)

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, I can't really say which genre this track has is it electro, dubstep'ish, soundtrack...
https://youtu.be/QX0TnD4VMzQ
This has three Yoshimi choirs I created from samples of my own voice and some skulduggery in Csound. :) Further there's the synth pluck from Yoshimi. The choirs are supplmeneted by one mellotron choir from LinuxSampler, as well as drum samples created from my analogue outboard synths and one live snare layer from the Arturia MiniBrute 2s. Further basses from Behringer Neutron and the MiniBrute 2 again, as well as a lead by the latter.
All mixed and heavily processed in Nama.
I would like to thanks @folderol once again for his amazing work on Yoshimi, allowing me to control and tweak every last iota of synth power. It's invaluable and a part of my sonic family I wouldn't want to go without.
Best wishes, Jeanette

Hello @jeanette_c,

as usual, your work is top notch! I am pretty sure @folderol is glad his work is put to good use!

Reminds me of a more modern take on the Pet Shop Boys sound. :D

Hi @Basslint , thanks for your feedback! Pet Shop Boys? Hm, I can see where you're coming from. Fascinating, I would never have thought of it myself. But there is something about that. :)

That's an interesting piece of "can't really say which genre" work :)
As for the eventual refs/vicinities since I don't know any pet shop boy I can't tell but the closest relative/impression that happened to me while listening to this work was remains of some 90125 parts, obviously without acid guitar and singing parts* but still ;)

I really like this, it's definitely reminds me of multiple genres!

Thanks @matterisvoid ! It's sometimes quite confusing in my own head. There are so many influences, inspirations and I want them all in one place. :)
I think with the choir motive and sound, I tried to fuse Bach harmonies with the theme to the German version of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Gide to the Galaxy. As I found out it's quite different from the British original, but equally glorious. And yes, I wanted some dubstep-like elements in there, so one of my best friends won't acuse me of an 80s sound again. The latter met with moderate success only. :(

I like the epic multi-choir sound. It reminds me of Kraftwerk's Radio-activity, but bigger.

That's a rather interesting mix of sounds, and styles.

Runs over a lot of genres, which is good in my opinion. There is A LOT happening in this song and the arrangement is really good. Quite a bit of melancholia in this piece too, which also is good in my opinion. :)

Really nice sounds and production too.

MusE DAW running on Debian 11 Testing/XFCE4.
