Transition dub techno electro

Post by tongo »

Hi, I posted this track a few days ago:
https://soundcloud.com/olive-evilo-899427537/transition

I did it with all this software:
Ray session
podolsky for bass
helm for the Rhythm Synth
zebralette for the lead synth
drum kv1 for drums
wysynth for pads
tal dub, dragonfly reverb, zam gate and others for effects.
Muse as midi sequencer
qtractor as mixer
and recjack for registered.
the voice sample comes from looperman
And everything is done under Librazik.

Do not hesitate to give me a feedback.
See you .

Right from the beginning it sounded like good stuff. And it is! I like it, it is very futuristic.

I have one question, just out of curiosity. Why not mix on MusE or sequence on Qtractor, in other words, use a single program?

Hi, thank you for your feedback!
There is a good reason for this:
first you should know that all synths are launched in carla (I forgot to say) because in carla the midi implementation is very flexible and I can assign 1 midi knob to as many parameters as I want on as many synths that I want .
Then the synths are sequenced with muse because it's a very good sequencer, more precise than qtractor and faster for editing (to my taste) and there is one thing we can do in muse that we can't not to do with q tractor is to send several different program changes on the same midi track, which allows me to avoid loading the same synth several times, because this song is an integral part of a bigger song that lasts much longer. I use qtractor to mix the tracks because it is very economical in processor resource, when I make the same mixer with muse, just the fifteen stereo tracks that I use consumes around 15% of processor while the same thing with qtractor represents less than 5 (at home).
See you

Cool track. Lots of interesting electro sounds and a hip rhythm. I thought maybe the reverb was a bit overboard, but that's par for the course in dub techno. The workflow notes were also interesting.

I love hearing all of these combinations of synths. I keep telling myself that I want to make some kind of electro-acoustic mix, but that means actually learning how to use the synth plugins.

Sounds cool, I really like the pad synth and the stabs. It's interesting that you made it with so many pieces of software, a very linux and modular approach!

thank you for all these positive comments, it's really nice!
I love the modular approach of mao under linux, but it can quickly become complicated to make all this software work together.
I tried several distributions and it took me a long time to get there, luckily I found Librazik which has hundreds of softwares configured and easy to install, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do all the songs that I have. posted here because I'm pretty bad at computers actually...

Very nice and detailed arrangement. Great mix!! This is the best example that you can make great sounding music without expensive plugins!
