I very much enjoyed this. Reminds me of TD and Floyd.

However...
Why on earth did you place it on youtube? It has no video content and there are plenty of other places you could have posted it away from google's tentacles.

Thanks! Yeah, I've listened to some Tangerine Dream through the years...

I really enjoyed it! Great sounds @oscillator! :D

Is Surge the only audio source?

Thanks for listening and commenting @LAM!🙂 All sounds were created with the Surge softsynth, it is the only synth I use.🙂

Really liked this and production is excellent. I love much of Tangerine Dream's music and this could fit nicely alongside Mala Kunia or some of their other recent work.
I even ripped it to listen locally later - one good thing about YT these days is the quality of their OggOpus streams is quite good and save-worthy unlike the terrible stream quality from not so many years ago.

There is a lot to be said for using just a single synth. It takes time to fully appreciate what any kit can do, and the more different ones you use the less you know about any of them.

Thanks a lot @sunrat! PM me if you would like a full resolution version! I think YT lowers the volume a bit 😁

This is truly gorgeous! Very epic and atmospheric, and perfect as a sci-fi setting: in some parts it reminded me of the Mass Effect soundtrack, which had the same kind of vibe, and a marvel to the ears.

Very nice from start to finish. I listened through a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Very nice electro soundscapes. This was an ambitious piece of work. I am also working on some ambient electro right now, so this inspires me! I can definitely hear the Kraftwerk influence in your slow pulsing synths. Reminds me of Radioactivity.

Thank you very much for the kind words, @Rainmak3r and @milo! :)

I haven't played Mass Effect, but I love the visuals!

And yeah, @Milo, the kind of space music I listen too has some roots in Krautrock, the same as Kraftwerk, so maybe this is no coincidence! :)

I like this a lot! I think it's one of the best things you ever did. How did you compose it? I am curious because I also do ambient sometimes but I use a physical instrument (guitar) and not a synth, so my approach is based on improvisation (and lots of mistakes )

Thanks a lot Fabio!

Workflow. This started with the second arpeggio, the one where the base note moves downward. I was playing around with a simple hardware synth that I had on my workspace as I was building some stuff and needed to test a CV/Gate connection. :)

I wrote down that arpeggio, and entered it into MusE. Next I added the chords and started playing with different sounds. I only use the Surge softsynth when making music, it is so complex that it can do everything I want (I still don't master it). I usually start with one of the many preset sounds and tweak it.

Then I added some bass and started to work on the arrangement. I recently startet using the Dragonfly reverbs, they are great, especially for this kind of music! I also used some Calf Plugins to make the sound larger.

I finally got to listen to this a few times, with headphones and studio monitors. It's nice and immersive. Something about it made me think of an electronic musician called Amethystium.

I was wondering if you really made all of those sounds with Surge, and then you clarified that Surge was the only synth that you used. I'm curious what settings you used on the reverb. I would guess that you used Dragonfly Hall with a long decay time, 0% early reflections, and a really subtle late level.
