3 tracks in 3 months, that's a good pace :D
And each one with a unique and distinct feeling :)
The student has surpassed the master, and by far!
I'm probably not in the most unbiased position to say this but it seems to me that this young guy has talent! 8)

Hi @WaterSlash , could you post a SoundCloud link as well. I know my system is a little "particular", but I couldn't listen to your track, not even on Youtube, but I'd very much like to. Your first two tracks definitely created an appetite for more and the title of this one is very enticing. :)

I agree and would actually ask @raboof to consider making a rule for discouraging paywall-only.

Nothing against commercial works, they should be more than encouraged if we are trying to promote professional music-making on GNU/Linux, but I think it would be nice if everyone here shared tracks for the sake of discussion.

The way BandCamp does it nice - everyone can listen gratis or can buy the track. I think that's the model we should aim for on this forum!

Perhaps a topic for another thread. :) I'm fine with paywall, we all have to live. In this case I only asked, since SoundCloud was mentioned and I am really interested.

It's a good track. You really have an ear for automation.
Did you intend the song to have such a stomping almost blocky rhythmic feel to it? It fits the mood and the sounds. But in some moments it feel a little too much so. I am referring to the sequence/arpeggio that you introduce right away. The sequence starts on a one, as does the bass and, naturally, the kick is on the one, too. Intuitively, I almost expected the sequence to shift an eighth or sixteenth note on. That way the spaces in between the quarter notes would have been filled with more distinctino.
I don't know your inspiration or intention. I have heard such sparse rhythms before in electronic music, maybe I'm simply too unaccustomed.
Over the course of the piece you present a good development. You have a good flow.
I suppose it's too early to say anything about "On a rainy night"? At least, I'll say that: I like it. :)

While I definitely agree we should encourage sharing non-paywalled links, I think we should probably not do that by having a 'rule', but rather just lead by example and recommend good alternatives.

@jeanette_c thank you again for your very helpful comment and to be honest, if the rhythms are a bit too blocky, it's because I don't work them enough  I should change this in the future

Hi @WaterSlash , you're more than welcome, as ever. :)
I know that I wasn't particularly "groovy" for a long time. I actually found my salvation in learning a few rhythmic patterns, like the clave, a south American pattern, very much in favour with hiphop and a few others. If your DAW allows, you might try to just shift a sequence by an eighth or 16th. Or try to copy from something you really like for a start. I suppose there are a thousand more ways to polish your grooves. Try whatever feels best to you. There are possibly as many tutorials on the YT as there are methods. :)
Anyway, it remains a good song, blocky or not. You can always say that it was intentional. :)
