Liquid Fire (ELSC 2021)

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey,
I'd like to introduce my latest piece: Liquid Fire, somewhat influenced by Katy Perry's "I kissed a girl", since that accidentally happened along the way, there are other influences, too. :)
https://youtu.be/x7buNOpGLyE
I also did the slideshow, working with povray again, so it's a little abstract or surreal, maybe it gives you a bit of my view upon the world. :)
This is my entry to the ELSC 2021, the international Low Vision Song contest:
https://viewsinternational.be/index.php/song-contest
Just a reminder: they still accept songs until April 23rd.
Instruments: Fluidsynth for bass, setBfree, Yoshimi for guitar-like sounds and one piano layer. Loads of Csound for effects, the vocoder layer in the chorus and the shimmer reverb stuff. LinuxSampler to load those Csound sounds and two further electric pianos (rhodes and pianet). Besides that a roland JV module for kick, snare, one clap and hats. Behringer Neutro for one bass and processing of drums. MiniBrute 2 and Prophet 12 for further synth sounds and accents.
Plugins: Fons 4-band parametric filter (EQ), Invada studio compressor, SWH L/C/R delay, G2verb, CAPS 2x2 Plate, Zita reverb, TAP TubeWarmth and stereo echo, CAPS speaker and amp models, Guitarix amp, and possibly a few more. :)
The national "finals" will be on May 7th, the grand finale will be on May 21st. It will be streamed live on youtube.

You showed a very nice pop arrangement here, I'd say not very far from a professional record. Wish you the best for the contest @jeanette_c!

I definitely hear the Katy Perry influence! I like the chordal part at 1:03 as well. Good luck in the contest. :)

Thanks! I'm glad you can enjoy the song, despite the vocals. :) Although the chorus did work out much better than I could have hoped for.
The chord progression in the breaks was fun. I simply love the shimmer reverb! Perhaps I really should try that in realtime, just for jamming. Not sure how my system will take it.

I really like the SOUND of this song...there is a lot of really nice sounding stuff! I also hear some 80s in the tune. I like that!
