Distrohopper
Hi all !
Today I released a new song called 'Distrohopper'.
It contains both techno, new beat and (post)rock.
Not the best combination, I know. But it happened that way.
You can check it out via different streaming platforms, choose wisely:
https://linktr.ee/bulevardi
Recorded in Linux Mint Xfce
Daw: Reaper
Synths with U-He Hive
Guitar effects with Mod Duo from ModDevices
Have a nice day !

Re: Distrohopper
Hi bulevardi,
This was indeed a very strange mix. Well played and mixed but slightly disjointed.
Do the parts represent different distributions? Which one is Ubuntu and which is Arch? ; )
And, why wasn't this recorded on more than one distribution : D ... sorry.
I think I liked the second part the best, cool melody/bass-line!

Re: Distrohopper
Good questions indeed! I'm currently running one distribution (Mint), but want to do openSUSE one day, I'm in love with that logo.spamatica wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 10:31 am Hi bulevardi,

I know, lots of stuff could have been done much more better...
The artwok cover was already finnished long time before, and as the year comes to an end, I felt the pressure to publish it.
And then after I uploaded, I thought: "oh no, this could have been done otherwise, I had to add that, I had to change so much other stuff... "
Oh well... it is what it is

Re: Distrohopper
Interesting song. It sounds more like a set that is rather short. I enjoyed the first part the most. I thik I would have enjoyed the last section a lot, if it hadn't been such a step down from the section before. The drums sounded so flat and the arrangement was so light... Never mind. Some really good sounds in there!

You're totally right there.jeanette_c wrote: ↑Mon Dec 14, 2020 7:16 pmI thik I would have enjoyed the last section a lot, if it hadn't been such a step down from the section before. The drums sounded so flat and the arrangement was so light...
I didn't program the drums from scratch here.
Adding these drums was the last part of the job.... and as I'm not good in that, and didn't want to bother someone else to help with it, I added premade samples of drums and cut/pasted them around.
I think it will always be the stuff I'm not good at.
But I'm happy that it got finnished anyway.

Re: Distrohopper
The first part reminded me of a mix between Die Krupps and an Amiga game soundtrack: cool nostalgia at the very least

Wow, this is very good! Not only catchy but also thoughtful. Liked the synths a lot!

Re: Distrohopper
Hi,
Some really cool ideas in there and well produced! I personally was liking the synth vibes and I thought the 'rawk' part with the guitars kinda pulled the momentum down a bit..
You must be a marketing genius, your followers and comments on Soundcloud are quite impressive!
