Three piano pieces

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, I've just uploaded some piano music of mixed origin. :)
The first is Cloud burst (no relations :) )
https://youtu.be/xraOuqWUdKQ
It's a mostly dark piano impression going from the very experimental beginning into a quiet jazzy harmony.
The second is Magda:

This is a song about a girl I met at a party and only talked to for a few minutes. I never met her again. I wrote this song to express my gratitudde for her quiet kindness and unreserved acceptance. This piece contains a small fugue in the middle. The other special feature is the arrangement with effects, inspired by - if not reaching the level of - Gleen Gould, when he got involved in mixing some of Sibelius piano works. Instead of adding instruments, I tried to emphasize moments and set sections apart from each other by rooms and effects.
The last song is Quaint and picturesque:

This, truly quaint and picturesque, piece is my interpretation of a very beautiful, sunny morning in Yorkshire, everyone still asleep, even the cat on the piano stool. :)
I hope you can find something to enjoy in this mixed bunch.
Best wishes, Jeanette

I just listened to these tracks. I haven't listened to a lot of solo piano music, but I like your playing. I think I like the "Quaint and pictureseque" track the best. There's a cool thing you did at around 0:26, with the major arpeggio to the tri-tone-ish thing, which I thought was done smoothly. There's also something similarly interesting in Magda at around 4:00. Impressive stuff! :)

I'm not a fan of piano solo music either (I must have been burned by that awful Einaudi concert I had to attend several years ago  ), but I did enjoy your compositions: playing keyboards and playing the piano is not the same thing, and you definitely demonstrated you can do both, great feeling! I liked "Quaint and picturesque" the most too, even though the first two pieces reminded me of Tchaikovski's "The Seasons" (the gorgeous "October" comes to mind).

Thank you for the lovely feedback. It's very encouraging to know that these pieces appeared to bridge the odd genre gap. :)
Thanks!
