Hammond Fried Eggs (feat. Dave Williams)
Hi folks!
I've been AWOL for a bit and looks like y'all have been busy, I have a lot of catching up to do!
Here's something I finished last week, a funky soul organ instrumental written years ago with Booker T & the MG's in mind... My friends Dave Williams and Peter Cox stepped in and knocked it out of the park!
"Hammond Fried Eggs"
Dave Williams - Hammond Organ
Peter Cox - Bass Guitar
Glen MacArthur - Guitar, percussion
Avi L. Blaqpearl - Drums

Re: Hammond Fried Eggs (feat. Dave Williams)
Hey hey Glen,
this is a great little tune! Such a good flow and the consistent heat there. You fried them eggs darn well!
I suppose it's just me, but I find that the drums stick out oddly. Not the way they are played, but the way they are mixed in. The rest - including the percussion elements like the tambourine and congas - sounds homogenous. It might be the levels or the extreme positions of the crash cymbals.
Anyway, that didn't distract from a rocking song.

Nice jam! Sounds like it was a lot of fun to play and record.
I love the Black Pearl kit samples. Did you use the AVL Drumkits LV2, or Hydrogen?

Hi Glen,
Very very nice, makes you wanna dance! The mix sounds killer!
For some critique I have to agree with Jeanette, the overhang from the drums sometimes gets a bit piercing. It is a very loud mix which I'm guessing exaggerates the issue. Especially one of the cymbals has a tone, which implies it can be filtered out. Though listening again I think the cymbals should be lowered just a bit.
But, where are the vocals? O.o

Great title You've got a lovely groove going on there!
I'm not competent enough to comment on the mix or production other than to say I thought there was too much stereo separation of the instruments but that's just my personal taste. I didn't have a problem with the drums though. Really enjoyed it, nicely played.

Very nice and LOUD!
