First tunes made after moving to a fully FOSS workflow

Post by cabsi »

I moved from Windows / Steinberg Sequel 3 to a fully FOSS workflow in 2017. But my PC died at the start of 2019. Now I'm back at it - most of these songs are originally from 2017-2018 with a couple of new ones. They're all on SoundCloud but these versions are newly remixed. They're an eclectic bunch - some electronic muzak, some heavy riffage, some alt-pop. Cheers.

"Monte Covideo" is probably my favorite track on the album. I especially liked the tremolo pad synth. Cool sound, that. Also the semi-random computer arpeggio at the intro and outtro of that track is cool, and the percussion works really well. I also liked "Working from 127.0.0.1" and "Blues in Am." Decent blues riffs in that final track.

You have some creative and clever song titles on this album.

Thanks for listening. I used Helm, Noize Mak3r and ZynAddSubFX. I don't do any audio engineering - it's all just presets. The pad is ZynAddSubFX "Pads: 0004-Analog Pad 2.xlz and the appg is Noize Mak3r "FX Stellar.com pb".

I like the changes in styles between tracks! "Super-spreader" was cool. Sometimes the lyrics are hard to hear because they are low in the mix and could use some treble (eq) maybe?

Hi cabsi,

I loved Murder is Meat. Very creative drumming and guitar playing. Noisy and sort of "tribal". The way you worked the vocals mixed very well with the arrangement, too.

I don't know if it was for purpose but there's a Smith's song with a title very alike, "Meat is Murder". Anyway, kudos for making a rock song touching this subject.

I'm hearing the other tracks too, but that one made the strongest impression.

Cheers,

Pierre

@cabsi I already positively compared your music to The Melvins' and I have to say that your other stuff is good too. Never lose that raw edge!
