Imago Dei

This is my first mix on my iLoud micros, and my first project since upgrading to Ardour6. I did have to put up with a lot of crashing, but overall I feel the workflow improved a bit.

Lots of layered percussion in this one, and I had to balance the low end between the Cajon's kick, the bass guitar, and bodhran-type sound that I got from whopping a plastic chair with the flat of my hand.

Hi!

Beautiful work Alan! I also have iLoud Micros for my house/dev computer and they are phenomenal for the money, much better than many other larger speakers (looking at you M-Audio) that purport to be pro monitors.

You lyrics and singing are great as always, you have a gift on both fronts. A great mixture of atmospheric synths and acoustic guitars 'and a great 'epic' sound to go along with the metaphysical/spiritual-themed material. Very well done!

Thanks!

Actually I didn't have any synths on this, just layers of guitar and ebow guitar. It does sound very synth-y though, doesn't it?

I like this song :D (can't judge the lyrics, since I don't really listen to the text anyway).

I was about to ask what the instrument was that plays in the intro together with the didgeridoo...

I think this is truly amazing! I loved the percussion, the guitar playing but above all the vocals. Great composition, great sound, great lyrics.

Very nice! It reminded me of Dead Can Dance, or Brendan Perry's solo work.

Hey, that's really great!! Music wise and mixing wise. The beginning reminded me on a SUNN O))) track later it reminds me on WOVEN HAND (but this could be because of the lyrics). I had the iLoud MTMs here for some days, but the calibration couldn't correct my room. I bought Sonarworks now (which works perfectly in Linux except of the measuring part) and might upgrade my speakers in the next months.

WOW. This is really great, I like it a lot. Just writing after a first listen on a tablet, but I'm sure I'll re-listen many times.

Who I felt reminded of, was the guitar - percussion duo Steve Tibetts & Marc Anderson. In the unlikely case that you never heard of them, I'm pretty sure you'd find them inspiring.

Thanks a real lot for sharing this work!

Wow! I am a fan of your stuff. This is a strong composition with powerful lyrics. I very much enjoyed listening to the whole thing twice, and I think I will keep coming back for more.

This is a great piece on all accounts ! Mix, 'spirit', instruments, voice, etc. Very well done and expressed.

Cheers.
