Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking
There's some description with the track. Low-tech hacking in action.

I should add guitarix to the mentions. And later, I can maybe upload the three Carla patches needed to reproduce this setup, best in AVLinux, but probably everywhere with some extra plugins (all free) installed

This is great fun, it makes me think of some of the early Pink Floyd stuff.

Yea, going slow seems to facilitate more portentous or lyrical playing - although that wasn't planned for, I merely wanted to do my guest a favour & give him a phone recording to take home.Michael Willis wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 7:45 pm This is great fun, it makes me think of some of the early Pink Floyd stuff.
And here are the promised Carla files for setting up a similar sound - open the .carxp files in a text editor for clues which plugins you might be missing, also I may have tweaked one or the other button since I used the setup last, work in progress is the word here. All inputs are on system capture 2! full2 is the main guitar sound, and if you're tuning it well/setting your guitar volume right, it is 'responsive', shifting between clean and heavy depending on your playing. synthg is an added synth guitar layer, acc is the accompainment and requires that you set jack transport, and maybe change to a slower BPM value, then play from there. You'll need to load the acc2slow song in hydrogen, if you don't want to program your own.
From a Carla programming perspective, it seems imperial to give each plugin instance a unique name, not only within the corresponding Carla instance, but globally, lest Carla get confused & (mis-)plug plugs across FX patches.

I think that could be a huge bug to report, it means Carla uses plugin names instead of UUID mapped to the instance!forestandgarden wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 10:33 pm From a Carla programming perspective, it seems imperial to give each plugin instance a unique name, not only within the corresponding Carla instance, but globally, lest Carla get confused & (mis-)plug plugs across FX patches.
As for the piece, I liked it a lot. The video, too - it's like visual woodshedding and I love the low-tech approach! The music reminds me of David Gilmour with some Bossa Nova elements. David Gilberto!

Re: Impro / if you need to know how I'm looking
Wow, thanks everybody for the splendid feedback! I'm feeling especially flattered by the compliments for the guitar sound/tone, since all of it is done by free & opensource lv2 plugins, but a lot of tweaking has gone into setting them up. The entire setup is up for downloads in my previous post, and should work out of the box in AVLinux. So go, make that download counter jump!
yea, I don't know if it's fixed in a later/beta version, but this pretty sure is a Carla quirk, open any .carxp file, they're human readible - no UUIDs, but I could also think of other ways of handling this - alas, dear FalkTX seems elusive, previously moderator, I can't even find him as a member on this forum now, and I haven't quite grown accustomed to the formal bug reporting procedure yet, dialog is motivating me betterBasslint wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 11:58 amI think that could be a huge bug to report, it means Carla uses plugin names instead of UUID mapped to the instance!forestandgarden wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 10:33 pm From a Carla programming perspective, it seems imperial to give each plugin instance a unique name, not only within the corresponding Carla instance, but globally, lest Carla get confused & (mis-)plug plugs across FX patches.
