The Ballad of the California Gold Rush
One of my kids did this for a school project with my help. I wish I had done something this cool when I was in middle school.

Re: The Ballad of the California Gold Rush
The piano really sounds like what we'd expect from a saloon in those times. Neat. Nice upbeat song, fun.
Cheers.

This just sounds like it was fun to make. Nice tones on everything too!

This is great fun. I'm really curious how you got the piano to sound like that, your description just says "piano synth".

Re: The Ballad of the California Gold Rush
It was the general midi synth in Ardour with the honky tonk sound. Initially he wanted a fiddle sound, but it sounded terrible so he went with the honky tonk piano instead.

Re: The Ballad of the California Gold Rush
Thanks for your kind words, everyone. I showed them to my kid and he was ecstatic. You all made his day.
(His eyes got really big when I pointed to @folderol's comment and said, "That's the developer of Yoshimi." You guys are heroes to at least one geeky kid in this world!)

Oh that's great work! Middle school, that means s/he is 11-12 years old (our school system is different)? Wonderful energy in the vocals!
MusE DAW running on Debian 11 Testing/XFCE4.

He's 14. (Middle school here is 11 through 14.) I just hope he's a good singer still after his voice changes, because that kid has musical talent.
Thanks!
Thanks!
