Monogatari 01 (acoustic, folk)

Post by jonetsu »

This is a track from those ancient times, long ago where there was no Bitwig, no fancy plugins, no Mixbus. Recorded in Ardour, remastered today from the stereo track (not the original mix). Made of acoustic guitar and acoustic bass guitar, soundfonts were used for other sounds.

Note: The exercise was mostly about stereo processing using a found stereo track. Some guitar notes makes me cringe. If it were about revisting the piece I'd fish out the original multi track, of which I have no idea where it can be at the moment, and redo the guitar part. However the piece is kind of cute on its own as is and has a rustic feeling.

That's a nice composition, I like the feel on the guitar track a lot. reminds me a bit of 80's-era King Crimson. Would love to hear it with a more natural replacement for the violin soundfont.

This was a good listen. I love listening to my old recordings. After a while the playing errors sound like they're supposed to be there!

This song has a nice feel to it, and I especially like the guitar riffs.

I dig the raw guitars!

Hi,

Cool throwback, I like the lope of the guitar progression and how it is underpinned by the bass, that subby kick that comes in halfway through has a nice tone to it as well..

Like this, quirky tune. Some very interesting details in there.

That is real good - I like it!

It has got a nice over all vibe to it - it sounds like being on a journey and traveling down the road slowly in a horse drawn wagon.

..or something like that - it has this movement and rhythm to it that is like a slow gallup.

Thanks. One of these days I'd like to redo it if only for the guitar part which I find scorching to the ears.

I like the waltzing the themes suggests, like smoothly making a way between elements. The slow trill at the end I found is a common note pattern I use on guitar. Sometimes I can just do for instance Eb-D over an over again over chords or other notes. A kind of duality sailing forth. As if another note would emerge from the two being played over and over.
