Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)
A bit more positive track this time with (imo) a nice drive:

Happy listening and nice sunday afternoon.
For the reverb I used Dragonfly Room (for glue) and Hall for ... ehm ... hall.

Did you ride the Trans-Europe Express to Vienna? Did you maybe sit in a late-night cafe there? There are some rhythmic and sonic echoes of the old Kraftwerk tune, which of course that means I loved your track! Very nice balance of sounds, good movement through the whole piece.

A nice harmonic blend of Berlin School, Kraftwerk, Tubeway Army and whatever else. I like it, too.

Re: Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)
Thanks. I will work a bit more in the mix, there's too much distortion on the master track. I was playing with the Buss Color Airwindows plugin and I think I overdid it a bit
Kraftwerk was also mentioned by someone else together with Wolfrgang Riechmann, Yazoo and Jarre. None of these came into my mind.
That's the sample I used btw:

I was not aware that such a track existed:milo wrote:Did you ride the Trans-Europe Express to Vienna? Did you maybe sit in a late-night cafe there? Reminds me on Detroit Techno Stuff ... Juan Atkins, Model 500. Of course it's the other way around.

Hi lilith!
Great track, I enjoyed the Audio journey to Vienna very much! Great mix some nice drive and grind but still comes across as a happy trip!

I thought for sure that you were quoting TEE. You even had a picture of a train station as the cover art!lilith wrote:I was not aware that such a track existed:

I was thinking more of this later version, starting at about 8:00 when the buzzy lead synth comes in and takes over the ride rhythm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgNTVT8khTk

One more comment: I played this for my kids last night at dinner time, and they all spontaneously started dancing around in the kitchen and kept dancing for the whole 7 minutes of the track.

I was not aware of the Kraftwerk track. I have choosen the title pretty late after I found that metro sample.

Re: Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)
For someone not really liking this kind of synth pop songs, it's a nice track overall. The feeling that emanates from it as time goes by is nice. The Kraftwerk reference is clear starting at 2:25. At about 6:00 one can maybe sense that a questioning has happened as to how to end this piece and the following time might be perceived as 'pondering' time about that question as it sounds like repetitive. Whereas the previous minutes before did not, even though the genre might imply such a feeling.
Hoping it makes some sense.
Coincidentally my current electronic piece has a train station sampling that started it all.

Re: Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)
I agree that the song is basically finished at ~6:00. I just wanted to play with the bass resonance for the last minute. Interessting that so many people hear Krafwerk in my tracks. I even don't have a CD of Krafwerk, allthough it's a great band.jonetsu wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 7:59 pm For someone not really liking this kind of synth pop songs, it's a nice track overall. Re: Vienna! (Synth Pop, Progressive Electronic)
I think I overdid it with distortion. I really have to look more into the Airwindows plugins. They seem to be geat. There's also some mud at 300Hz I want to reduce. But for now I need a break. Can't listen to it anymore. This will change again after some days
