This is a rather upbeat track although in some surreal way in a sense. Maybe some kind of cheesy detective TV series.

I like it, but I would have toned the drums down a little. I think it's kind of trampling over everything else.

Thanks for the comment. I agree, a bit too enthusiastic about the drums. I edited the drum track and posted a new version. Same link as above.

Did you change just that? Sounds like a very different track from the other one.

Basically yes. Two other things were slightly modified: there's a break towards silence that was made around the drum 'solo' and the saxophones/keys of the main theme a bit toned down the first time around. All of the work was to modify the drum track on almost a drum hit-by-hit basis. I like that. Compressors can be nice although I found so far that there's nothing beating a careful manual editing of (almost) single notes and group of notes in their imported wav format (not MIDI editing).

I will actually try to mix two other pieces today.
