Homerun One

Post by jonetsu »

This is a bright smoothly rhythmic simple piece with a guitar theme and a synth solo. One feature of the piece are the guitar loops that are used as texture.

Enjoy. Comments welcomed.

Created using Bitwig and mixed using Mixbus32C. On Linux Mint 18.

Cheers.

Did you use drum samples for this or is it a drum loop? And the saxophone sounds so realistic, where does it come from? It's not exactly my taste, but I think it's well done for what it is :). Could work very good as a score for a TV documentation.

Thanks for the comment. It's a mix of drum loops and MDrummer which is introduced in the latter parts. For the saxophone I think that the approach is quite important. I used to play sax for a couple of years. I find it important to play the sample (from Sample Tank 3) on the keyboard in such a way as to give the 'player' time to breathe and even more, as a real saxophone player would do most often when improvising. To feel the playing as if a real saxophone was played.

One of these days I should start making pieces that can be branded as one style, so that people's expectations can be fulfilled when I post a new piece 8)

For most of it, nice track! Solo in 3:00 is only weaker part. That synth sound does not fit to spirit of the track, others are nice and smooth, but that isn't. And another thing, that solo is not loud/bright enough to jump up from background.

But as a whole, great work!

Thanks. I agree that the solo i skind of odd, or mostly odd. This is a shortened re-arranged version of a longer piece, hence the 'One' in the title as there might be the longer version 'Two' on of these days.

Cheers.
