A new attack at your ears

feat. me singing in bad inlis. Some extra info is with the track.
And please don't tell me it's clipping - it isn't, I've made sure. What happens is, that the key my guest had played the tune in, made it too low for my voice to sing the lower chorus voice I wanted. So what I did, was exporting a mix, starting a new project with it, pitch-shift the playback, sing to it, and pitch-shift back the recorded voice, then use the resulting track in the original project.
I did that with a certain DAW aiming at professional audio engineers as their primary target group, and the result sounded like ET playing the kazoo, but since said DAW is also free like beer should be, I shan't complain. I've thrown a number of FX onto it to make it sound as if it were intended. Next time I'll probably just drastically change playback speed, so that the actual waveforms won't get frankensteined by any algorithm, and let the formants be formants.

You've discovered a new musical genre that the world needs. Embrace it, don't fight it.

Hi,

Love the easy R&B groove and vibe! Would love to sit outside in a cafe patio enjoying a cold beer to this :D

Nice guitar sounds and very tasty chords, well played. I would like to hear a bridge somewhere, even if just an instrumental one that plays some different chords that are complimentary to the main structure. I also really like the big warm bass but to me the drums are not EDM enough to sound Electronic and not Analog sounding enough to be Acoustic..

As far as the vocals they aren't bad, I like the ideas but also need to be honed and tweaked which I think is what your intention is from your post..

Nice tune!

Enjoyed this. Quite original, yet somehow seems familiar.

Hey,

I thought that by now, I could maybe offer some alt mix already, but alas, neither have I found the time to travel to the McDonalds' in town and plug in, nor has the sun shone enough to charge my batteries at home, so I wanted to at least thank you all for your time, the many listens I got, and the encouraging commentaries.

I am also at a point where I might want to do multi-part songs again, fond as I may be of looping and layering. The lick I've squeezed out in this piece, could eventually become the chorus/hookline, for instance. With the drums, the intention is definitely to be on the acoustic side, if it sounds like EDM, that's an accident - probably the tambourine, HH and ride all panned to the middle are doing that. If I could get ardour and hydrogen to play together well again, it would be easier for me to polish drums as the song grows, but as it is, my most effective workflow is exporting a handful of drumpatterns as audio early in the project, and moving them around as regions in ardour when arranging the song - fast, but not yet ideal.

I'm doubly happy if the songs still come across as having a vibe and a personality, as unfinishd as they may be.
