Took a Number

Hello,

I took a number and waited in this Kafkaesque office.

A somewhat surreal atmosphere is given by the acoustic drums and harmonies flanked by a stubborn bass and wrapped in environmental noise.

Mixed without any plugins in Mixbus32C (Ardour derived).

Enjoy !

Cheers.

Hi,

This is cool! Haha "Kafkaesque office" :D

Something that struck me right away is how every few measures the drums push the '1' which is so strongly associated with James Brown, really interesting to hear that dynamic in a non-funk context but you also give the bassline a slightly funky pulse during those particular measures so it is an interesting cross-pollination of styles.

Once again great guitar work and sound, I recall you have a unique Shiraki guitar and on this song it has some cool almost Dobro-like overtones to it which sit in the mix very nicely.

Great work!

Thanks. The sound of the Shiraki is much more standard though. The first guitar part sound was made by duplicating the track and having the second track go through Bitwig's amp cabinet simulator to give this edgy metallic guitar sound. As usual it was created in Bitwig and then mixed and masterized in Mixbus32C.

Cheers.

Mix update. A bit punchier, a bit more uniform and dense in a way. The same mastering chain as described in the "Summer Theme" update was used.

The screen shot is from the updated mix before mastering.
