Mind Control Music & Videos

Post by loxstep »

Seeking feedback on my new project. It combines video and music. Everything was made in Linux.

Software used:
Ardour
Audacity
Steve Harris plugins
ZynAddSubFX
GIMP
OpenShot
Bless Hex Editor

Videos:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI6yn1 ... b46iRSEGVQ

Warning - Videos contain fast, high contrast patterns. Please avoid if you have photosensitive epilepsy.
Another Warning - Videos are kinda creepy

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!

I listened to Laughing at an Open Grave and I have no idea where the bagel comes it to that but I like it all, it's trippy and glitchy, and weird, like Warp Records used to be a decade ago or so ago. The video is very meme-ish but it works.

Someone thought they look like brainwashing material from a cult. But don't worry, there are no subliminal messages.

Thank you! I started making these after seeing those vaporwave / citypop videos that just consist of a short loop from anime or the simpsons. Meme is definitely what I'm going for.

Also, by warp records, do you mean this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmLUs6mjs6Y
Seeing this for the first time. I love it. Thank you for suggesting.

Thank you both for the feedback.

Yeah that kind of thing. Even though they are not like vaporwave, I thought of the Chris Cunningham videos -

Mind control worked. Now hailing the bagel as my supreme leader.

That reminded me of the hypnotoad:

Haven't found much in there though, cult or no cult. Strange that someone would say that.

In perhaps a bit of the same that I like, and seen them live a few times, is for instance:

BTW, there's actual research in the effects of sounds and since quite a long time at that. Even Robert Fripp (King Crimson) did some experiments in solo performances where he would play sounds and textures and then ask what the audience felt.
