Mr. E's (a Virtual Music Projects collaboartion)

Post by finotti »

Here is a production that started in the "Virtual Music Projects" subforum, more precisely, here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=17258

After I've listened to what Michael Willis had posted there, I thought I could try something with it. (It took a while to finish, since I had to finish another project and, well, I'm slow...) :-)

So, the music was written by Michael. I took the Ardour session he posted in the thread above and started working on it. I programmed bass and drums, recorded the guitars, and then mixed (with Michael's input). I've done it all in Ardour and virtually all the plugins were from Calf this time.

There are two versions, with only one very minor difference. At 0:12, the second voice is either played also by the glockenspiel (Michael's preference) or by piano + xylophone (my preference). (Very minor and the only thing for which we had different opinions.)

So, here is Michael's: http://luisfinotti.org/music/files/MrEs ... _06.57.mp3

Here is mine: http://luisfinotti.org/music/files/MrEs ... _06.02.mp3

You can read more about it here: http://luisfinotti.org/music/music.html#mres

Any input (especially on the mix) would be appreciated.

I have to admit that months ago I was kind of burned out on this project, and sharing it on the collaboration section of this forum was mostly a "Meh, why not? Maybe somebody will pick it up". I had kind of forgotten about it when Finotti got in touch with me saying that he was arranging drums, bass, and guitars. I've had a rollicking fun time getting his updates, it's been great hearing it come to completion!
