The Invisible Barrier

Post by psyocean »

Hi, dear LinuxMusicians!

I'm happy present to you my new instrumental work "The Invisible Barrier"
https://soundcloud.com/psyocean/invisible-barrier

Played mostly live on solo guitar, electro (clean) guitar and bass, and some percussion rhythm on djembe-drums :) Partially percussion line sounded in Hydrogen. Recording and mixing in Ardour 4. The initial version was composed in the musical editor Musescore, you can listen this track in midi: https://musescore.com/user/4474061/scores/3530536

Cheers!

Hi,

It's a good jam. Looks like all of the MIDI data can be downloaded, I would just have to register to the musescore site. If I do, I might be tempted to do a cover version, not promising that if I will, though. :?

Since last time we shared some links I have found by coincidence a Russian band that plays in a style relative to the French band Magma, the style being called 'Zeuhl'. The track is pretty good, with the band shredding somewhat abstractly a bit later on.

Colleagues, thanks for the comments! Some time ago I mounted video sketches (in OpenShot Video Editor), sounded by this composition, it turned out like a travel-video, from fragments captured in St.Petersburg, Moscow, Tver and on the Black Sea.
Titled the video "Through the Barrier" :)

The daylight scenes, the way the sun lights up scenery, is familiar. Even the water of the lake looks familiar. I guess scenery at around this latitude, the trees, the light, the water, is a bit the same around the world.

OTOH, the video next to it, the hare khrishna video with people dancing and chanting in Russia, had me smile. It is such a complicated thing :)

Hi,

Very good, you are obviously a very talented arranger and composer, as well as guitarist.

I personally thought some of the sounds clashed, as an example the heavily processed lead guitar vs. the very retro almost 'Farfisa' sounding organ did not sit well together. That's just my opinion and I tend to focus very much on sounds themselves, but I think in such a highly-evolved piece of music that the individual sounds can contribute a lot in authentically giving an 'aural' sense of space and dimension.

These are just some impressions, congratulations on another very interesting piece of music :D

GMaq, thanks for feedback! Good remark about the guitar and organ, I think on this. Guitar to this day sounded by processor Korg AX3000G, but I begin to move in the direction of analogue techniques on tubes, bought just yesterday tube distortion - Blackstar HT-Metal, heh its beast! Let's building true sacral sound! 8) Unfortunately these things not quite open source :D

Unrestrained cool ?

How about an orchestra that calls itself "not be cool" :)
