April Mixdown

Post by Rapstam »

Hi,
I have compiled some bits and pieces of some early stage work. Recorded using kxstudio, qtractor, qmidiarp, guitarix, hydrogen

Poor mixing and soundstage and some glitches may be present - audiophiles may want to seek elsewhere - this is after all just early stage demos.

You should develop these into full songs. Many of them have a really cool atmospheric "chill" sound. Have you done any work on these since?

Hi Jesse,
Thanks for the kind words.
These are almost-completed parts from incomplete songs, which in time will turn into full-length tunes (hopefully). This is after all just a hobby without any goals, roadmaps or deadlines. The distorted bass part is taken from a tune, which is close to completion.

That's for many people the tricky part. But it pays off. It's a nice feeling having a song completed.

Personally, I can't finish songs/albums if I'm too passive in working on them. I usually set arbitrary goals/limitations for my work, for if I wait for inspiration strike, inspiration finds some other unsuspecting victim. I have a tendency to wallow in indecision otherwise. That's how it works for me anyway. :?

The point of all this, I love seeing cool ideas come to be fully realized. I hope you are able to get to that point, because I'd be interested in hearing it.

Copenhagen is sunny and warm in this season.
A new and final mix for an older song is ready. Has kind of a hangover-lazy-sleepy feel to it . Been listening a lot to Neil Youngs "On the Beach" lately, which may explain the lazy chilled mood.

7 tracks: 2 guitars, 2 basses, hydrogen drum beat, qmidiarp+yoshimi, naughty moaning vocals (de-naughtyfied by excessive use of delay and reverb)
guitar+bass -> guitarix ->qtractor, hydrogen, qmidiarp, yoshimi, kxstudio, calf plugins, tal plugins
