Thrread dedicated to arpeggios! :D ..and cheating..

Post by briandc »

Yes, cheating. My first post, for now, using just amSynth running through Calf's digital delay.. and hydrogen for company! Kind of "U2-ish", but without a specific goal in mind.

The lead will be in the next bank of amSynth sounds.

So,
following FalkTX's advice.. I was able to get qmidiarp working with amsynth in such a way that Audacity could record the two together.

I just connected things by midi (in QJack connection window) this way: external keyboard > Qtractor > qmidiarp > amsynth.

Amsynth is the last one, which connects to the system audio.

Voila! :)

Sorry this is OT Brian, but I was interested you were able to make this available through a Ubuntu One account. How does that work?

No problem! :)

Just go to ubuntuone.com and register. (It's free.) Then when you log in, you'll have (I think) 2 GB of virtual diskspace. Click on "files" and then "upload file." Choose your file to upload, and upload it.
Then, click on "more" at the right of the file you uploaded. Where you see "publish file" click that, and it will spit out a URL. Copy that and paste it where you want others to download it. ;)

Let me know if you encounter any problems.

i have just signed up for a free Ubuntu One account & I got 5GB of storage - that could be a lot of music.

Why don't you post this on the 'How To' section of the forum. I was looking at trying a free soundcloud account, which I think limits you to 40 songs. This sounds like you get more & it is more flexible. Thanks for a good tip.

5GB..wow.. I don't think I got that much! :D

Still, I usually record in .ogg files, which are good, yet lighter than .flac files..

I have a soundcloud account, but I'm not really gung-ho about that site. I don't know exactly why. To discover new music people are making, I either explore sites like this, or kvraudio.com, or jamendo.com
