'add' to me means 'skip over the chord tones in between'. So the chord in your username I would call Fmaj9. You don't need the 'add' because it has all the chord tones up to and including its name -- R 3 5 7 9
Fadd9 is R 3 5 9 and add9 chords are the sound of Every Breath You Take or Message In A Bottle by the Police. Contrast this with a dominant 9th R 3 5 b7 9 which is the sound of a James Brown vamp.
