the right way. The 'slide' is what escaped me completely,
got that sorted out now, just need to practice a few
zillion times. The other part is about the whole song i.e.
the complete chord progression. I'm on the wrong computer
right now to finish this, sorry. Later...

Re: chord progression?
Well here you are, nothing fancy, strict standard ballroom RnR, the real stuff
(all chords are played with the standard roll sus5 sus6 except when noted 7th)
repeat ad lib (some sudden stops for eventual chorus or singer spasm, biz as usual .

Thanks a meg! You seem to have a sharp ear and it looks like I have more of an eye than an ear for backing-track chords, how about this one?Loki Harfagr wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:14 pm Well here you are, nothing fancy, strict standard ballroom RnR, the real stuff

@ 1:44 the info page begins with a chord sequence as well as a dynamic readout. Problem is the two don't match

I can't vouch for the chords being what's shown
but the sequence (pattern) is:
Cm Ab Eb Bb Cm Eb Bb Ab {4x}
Eb Cm Ab Bb Fm Ab Eb Cm Ab Bb Fm Ab

Sonic Visualiser is useful at helping to find chords. Check for it in your distro's repository before using the video install instructions.

Had some hoops to jump through but finally got it working
{usually end up with a total mess except when using [suse] distro rpms}

Re: chord progression?
You can capture the chordino output with ffmpeg and then incorporate a part of it into a backing track video with kdenlive. Pretty neat for a dynamic cheatsheet!Largos wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 12:34 pm https://youtu.be/bQrleXXQmWY

The only peeve I could think of, as I do in the case of Rosegarden too, is the way they both handle horizontal scrolling. It's a paging lubber line that scrolls in a rather unkempt manner page-per-page. If it were up to me I'd prefer a continuous scroll where the content inset moves and not the lubber line, like the ruler in a slide-ruler window.

Right now I'm struggling in C major, trying to come up with a short progression that uses Bdim (viidim) and sounds good too

Re: chord progression?
Let's try this (put in guitar chord fingering sym for easy read):
Of course there are many many more but that one may give a "almost not the usual pop mantra" feelx32010
x53230
076450
x20101
x3555x

Re: chord progression?
Thanks, i reconfed them to my D-standard tuning and I get the idea, and while tinkering around with it I actually found the xxx653 voicing of standard Bdim to fit in acceptably between E & G in either direction. I can't figure out how come I couldn't see that before. Having noticed that very few chord progressions list a "vii-dim" I got curious, and that brings me to a suplementary question:Loki Harfagr wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:06 am Let's try this (put in guitar chord fingering sym for easy read):

When using roman numerals in chord progressions in C for example, does a "V" represent strictly a G major or can it also stand for a Gm though never spelled out as a "Vm"? This could explain why I never saw a vii-dim, just as I never saw a "iii7" either. Looking at tit the other way, seeing a roma numerals progression actually 'implies' all/any version of those numerals.
